Health insurance plans offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace, also known as Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace, are not government insurance programs like Medicaid or Medicare. Instead, these marketplace plans are private health insurance plans offered by commercial insurance companies that are certified by the marketplace and comply with the regulations set forth by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
